Recent ActivityNEW: Belen Consolidated Schools Telephone Broadcast Service
In our effort to improve communication, Belen Consolidated Schools is implementing a telephone broadcast system that will enable personnel to notify all households and individuals by phone within minutes of an emergency or unplanned event. The service may also be used from time-to-time to communicate general announcements or reminders. This service is provided by SchoolReach, a company specializing in effective communications.
When used, the service will call all phone numbers in our selected contact lists and will deliver a recorded message from an administrator. The service will deliver the message to both live answer and answering machines. No answers (phones ringing over 40 seconds) and busies will be automatically retried twice in fifteen minute intervals after the initial call.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
1) This requires NO registration by the recipient on the SchoolReach website.
2) All information and contact numbers are strictly secure and confidential and are only used for the purposes described herein.
Here is some specific information you should know:
| Caller ID | The Call ID will display [505-966-xxxx], which is the main number for your child's school |
| Live Answers | There is a short pause at the beginning of the message, usually a few seconds. Answer your phone as you normally would; "hello" and hold for the message to begin. Multiple "hellos" will delay the message. Inform all family members who may answer your phone of this process. |
| Answering Machines | The system will detect that your machine has answered and will play the recording to your machine. The phone will ring for up to 40 seconds. Make sure that your machine answers after four rings or you may miss the message. |
| Message Repeat | At the end of the message you will be prompted to 'press any key' to hear the message again. This is very helpful when someone other than the intended recipient initially answers, allowing the recipient to then 'repeat' the message in its entirety. |

According to the NM Compulsory School Act, Belen Consolidated Schools is proactively seeking strategies to address the issue of chronic absenteeism. The goal is to keep students in an educational setting. Beginning January 3, 2012 student absences will be addressed individually by the school site and by the district's Student Support Programs Office. Disaster/Safety InstructionsIn the case of a school emergency, crisis or disaster, please listen to KARS, KRST, KOB-AM for instructions. Please do not call the school or go there until directed.
Inclement WeatherIn the event of inclement weather, the Belen Consolidated Schools may operate on an abbreviated day basis. In the event of an abbreviated day, the start time at each school will be two hours later than usual. The dismissal time will remain the same for all schools.
Television stations, which will relay the abbreviated day information are KOB (Channel 4), KOAT (Channel 7), and KRQE (Channel 13). Radio stations are KARS (Belen 860), and KOB-FM (Albuquerque 92.3). The following are telephone numbers for the various stations. KARS Radio - 864-3024, KOB Radio - 767-9193, KOB-TV, 764-2499, KOAT-TV, 884-6324, AND KRQE-TV, 764-5240.
